Doctor's Visit

On our last doctor's visit for baby A's monthly check up, I wasn't very happy. First, I felt that the doctor was rushing us. I wasn't able to gather my thoughts properly and ask questions. I think since there were many patients in line, she wanted to finish with our appointment as soon as she can. I just hate that. Every doctor's visit, we have to pay one hundred and fifty Turkish Lira ( 150 YTL) which is equivalent to 125 USD. For that amount of money, I expect more from the doctor than a five-minute check up. She basically just measured our baby's head circumference and took his weight. Then she looked at his eyes and body. That's it. She then went on writing down and explaining to us the types of vegetables baby A can take for this month. I asked a couple of questions and all her answers were " That's normal.". A little explanation would be more useful!

When we came out of the doctor's clinic. I felt ripped off. I was not in a good mood at all. Hubby was asking me to just calm down and not to make a fuss about it. I tried not to and kept my mouth shut.

We flagged down a cab outside the hospital. Our flat is a 10-minute walk to the hospital but we opted to take the cab since it was raining. It would normally costs us between 3-5 YTL for the ride. The cab driver probably mistook us for some tourists and started going around the block explaining that he was trying to avoid traffic. I just lost it. I started screaming at the driver and arguing with him with my poor Turkish. Hubby was asking me to calm down again. I tried to keep my mouth shut the whole journey but when we got home, I started arguing with the driver and I refused to pay 8 YTL for a 4 YTL cab ride. I wanted to call the police to report him but I realized I was going too far. For that amount of money, I did not want to stress myself anymore. I know it's the principle that counts but is it really worth to argue over it?
